Scottish Journalism Celebrated at the 45th Scottish Press Awards

The impact, dedication and integrity of Scottish journalists was celebrated last night at the Scottish Press Awards, with judges including our own Jack Irvine and Ramsay Smith as well as sponsorship from Newsbrands Scotland director, and Media House consultant, John McLellan.

Among the winners were:

  • Georgia Edkins, Scottish political editor, Mail on Sunday –  Journalist of the Year; Reporter of the Year; Political Journalist of the Year and Scoop of the Year
  • Scottish Daily Mail – Newsbrand of the Year
  • Greig Cameron, The Times / Sunday Times – Business Journalist of the Year
  • Inverness Courier – Weekly Newsbrand of the Year
  • Marion Scott, Sunday Post – the Nicola Barry Award
  • Jane Barlow, Press Association – News Photographer of the Year
  • Chitra Ramaswamy, The Times Scotland – Food and Drink Writer of the Year
  • Cheryl Peebles, The Courier – Specialist Reporter of the Year
  •  The Courier – Campaign of the Year
  • The Scottish Sun – Best Coverage of a Live Event ; Podcast of the Year; and Journalism Team of the Year
  • Ian Swanson, political editor Edinburgh Evening News – Lifetime Achievement
  • The Courier – Front Page of the Year Award
  • Dale Haslam, Press & Journal – Regional Journalist of the Year
  • Scott Maclennan, Inverness Courier, Weekly Journalist of the Year
  • Former Sunday Mail editors Jim Wilson and Brendan McGinty – Chairperson’s Award for their expose of the police’s handling of the investigation of Emma Caldwell’s murder
