Media House Chairman Jack Irvine is off to New York (again!) for the Global Awards Gala on October 1.

Man of the Year is Hugh Grant, Chairman and CEO of Monsanto Company. Lady Susan Rice is Woman of the Year; Professor Sir Jim McDonald, Principal and Vice Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde receives the Entrepreneurial leadership Award in Science and Technology and Dr Fiona Kennedy, singer, producer and philanthropist, gets the Cultural Heritage Award.

Jack Irvine has been on the organising committee of the New York Society for the past few years and through his influence it was decided that some of the proceeds from the gala go to the Yorkhill Children’s Charity in Glasgow. An equal sum also goes to the New York Presbyterian Hospital, founded by a Scot, James Lenox.

Jack will also be meeting up with his future daughter-in-law Elizabeth Dunlea who got engaged to his son Chris in New York last week. Chris is back in London awaiting a posting to New York with the Daily Mail Online team.
